The second RollingStock Track Day was one of those days! One of those days you’ll always remember! The weather was better than you could have hoped for – the perfect number of cars were grouped per session – there were minimal disruptions throughout the day – and some great times were being recorded! Wakefield Park Raceway at its finest!
As is typically the way at the now regularly occurring RollingStock Track Day events, the day centres around track time. BUT, the day has an added emphasis on bringing together a great grouping of people and throwing in some good food as a bonus! Enzos Cucina jumped on board as they always do to provide the food and ensure that whilst we tried to keep the cars as light and empty as possible – we couldn’t say the same for our stomachs!!
With an awesome bunch of guys and girls in attendance, coffee on standby and the food taken care of – we were set for success!
4 sessions, or groups were prepared in advanced. These groups were created based on entrant experience and previous times recorded. In a nutshell, the first timers and the seasoned pro’s were all group accordingly. Doing this ensures that people aren’t in sessions with much faster or slower cars. Safer, more fun and in the end a way of setting the day up to ensure it flows!
We had John Boston with us for the day again and he kept the sessions running like clock work. John was also on hand as an instructor to jump into cars where drivers were keen to get some pointers and improve their track skills. Invaluable to many!
The RollingStock Track Day used official NATSOFT timing. The NATSOFT timing recorded the below results throughout the day. Whilst the day is by no means a ‘competitive’ day, the timing does provide everyone with a fantastic indication of how they are progressing with their cars and if changes are improving or slowing them down. Interestingly, we also found that he NATSOFT timing and the very popular Harry’s Lap Timer app were VERY consistent between one another. Most cars using both saw that recorded times were within 0.3 of a second of one another. At times, the were almost mirroring each other!
In attendance on the day we had a huge variety. From race spec Abarths, to AMGs, HSVs and the pace setting Civic that shocked many with its 1:07 lap time!
All in all the day was a lot of fun and a fabulous opportunity to put your pride and joy to the test. Our days at Wakefield let you find out who runs out of skill first – man or machine!! (In most cases – it’s the man that needs the fine tuning!!)
Keep an eye on our pages for the next RollingStock Track Day that is currently scheduled for the 1st May 2017!
